Police, Protesters and Argus readers can relax, the protest has finally ended. Although news is continuing to filter through, the consensus judgement seems to be that of partial success. Over three hundred attended the main protest, many locals learnt about the presence of EDO and the factory was forced to close for the day.

However, the war goes on.

Innocent people continue to die around the world. Everyday more deaths are reported in Palestine, Afghanistan and beyond. Many more occur and, sadly, remain unreported. Meanwhile EDO/ITT continue to operate in OUR city and continue to profit from these deaths.

Once everyone's recovered we will carry on organising, informing, protesting and fighting. We will be here, until they are not.

In the meantime here's a snapshot of the day's events:

The main bloc assembles in wild park.

The protest heads down Lewes Road towards the factory.

Just before Home Farm Road around two thirds of the bloc splits off and heads into the woods...

leaving police looking decidedly bemused.

Protesters reach the rear of the factory, where a number of different actions occur. Police then manage
to corale the majority of this splinter group and, using/abusing horses and dogs, herd them away from the
factory onto Wild Park.

The two groups then join back together and, despite the bewildering and frankly pointless attempts by
the police to stop them, head down Lewes Road into town.

While some blocked the end of London Road with an impromptu street party others head towards the main
branch of Barclays in the centre of town.

However police illegally kettle around 100 protesters in North Laine. They then target marked
medics for snatch arrests, one medic was detained and later released without charge.
